Jamayka’s 4th release is from the highly-respekted and sought-after talents of San Francisco’s very own Kaskade. This bredren seriously came thru with some super-smooth soulful funky grooves on their Jamayka debut ep entitled “The Gift” ep. Also watch out for up-and-coming Chicago producer’s Ska-T & Sombionx, who put their two-funky-cents worth into a remix of “Be There”.
Kaskade has released eps for Om, Naked, Siesta, DoubleDown, etc. We are really hyped to be working with this great production team, and look forward to more Kaskade records on Jamayka in the future. This ep is and will be supported by the likes of Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Marques Wyatt, Jeno, Roy Davis Jr., Fred Everything, Dizzy, Garth, Jay-J, Jeff Bennett, Ska-T, Hatiras, Lego, Gene Farris, Sombionx, Paul Johnson, DJ Heather, Mazi (aka Audio Soul Project), B. McCarthy, Kiko Navarro, DJ Chus & Ceballos, and many other like minded selekta’s.
The “Original” mix is a tight, soulful, funky number with memorable male vocals and smooth synth lines that keep the floor thirsting for more. The super-fat bassline only lends natural beauty to this, as do the effectively done breakdowns and buildups.
“Late Night Jackin” shows the live instrumental production talents of this super-funky production crew from San Francisco. Tru SF vibes ooze from the this one. Nice chill synth lines w/ live horns make this one a track that rocks in the club and also one that works nicely @ home while you’re stirrin up some wikkid snacks.
The “Ska-T & Sombionx” mix is a more tribal/dj-friendly affair. A deep funky tribal-tech groove chugs strongly with well-placed vocal snips and tight vibraphones The bassline grabs you and never lets go of its funktified grip! Perfect for a more chilled, late-nite affair.
The “Love Dub” mix is a minimally deep, FUNKY, soulful groove vibe with positively nice-n-soothin’ key riddums, solid breakdowns/buildups, and a uphorically tight new vocal line. The super-tight funky bassline keeps-on keeping-on as well True to its laid-back stylee! |
